On February 13, 2023, Michael J. Lewis, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and colleague, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas. Michael was born to his father, Marvin B. Lewis and Gladys B. Hunter Lewis in Midland, Texas. Michael was raised in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1983. While attending Whitehaven, Michael participated in the music band. He loved playing his clarinet. Michael is also remembered for loving and caring for his pet cats.
Michael worked at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. We remember when, the family needed chairs for our annual family reunion, Michael volunteered to meet our family’s need by getting chairs from the University of Texas. Michael
was often seen wearing his favorite University of Texas hoodie sweatshirt.
Michael cherished the military funeral flag of his father, Marvin B. Lewis, honoring
the memory of his dad’s military service to the United States of America.
Michael was a beloved family member and is remembered for being a great person with a positive and happy disposition. He had a passion for helping his family and others in need. Michael will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
A memorial of his life will soon be announced.
