Kermit Gerard Lofton

Kermit Gerard Lofton, affectionately known as "Mint," peacefully entered eternal rest on March 15, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
 

"Mint" was born on May 11, 1955, to the union of Booker T. Lofton, Sr. and Pearl Powell Lofton. He embraced Christ as his savior at an early age and received baptism at New Hope AME Church.
 

A lifelong resident of the Austin area, Kermit attended the local public schools and graduated from Albert Sidney Johnston High School in 1973 and furthered his education at a local technical school.
 

Kermit enjoyed traveling, car racing, playing pool, barbecuing, going to his great-niece softball games, and watching his favorite football team - The Dallas Cowboys.

Kermit was a dedicated employee of the City of Austin Resource Recovery for 12 years and later spent 15 years at Austin Task.
 

Kermit united in Holy Matrimony with his wife Janette Michelle Gamez Lofton on June 11, 2022.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents - Booker T Lofton Sr., Pearl Lofton; sisters - Birdie Lee Hardy, Barbara A Carter; brothers - Ross Allen Lofton, Booker T Lofton, Jr., and Oscar C Lofton.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  wife - Michelle Gamez Lofton; daughter - LaTicia Hill of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter - Rebecca (Emilio) Pina Rodriguez of Dell, Texas; sister - Sandra K Silas of Austin, Texas; 4 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 2 great-grandbabies, and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
