James Organ, Sr. Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of James Wibert Organ, affectionately known as "Jimmy O", who peacefully entered eternal rest on February 7, 2025, in Austin, TX, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on September 28, 1937, in Austin, TX, James was the cherished son of the late Henry Homer Organ Sr. and Lucille Arnold Organ. From an early age, he dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at David Chapel Baptist Church.

A proud graduate of Old Anderson High School, Class of 1955, James pursued higher education at Durham Nixon Clay College, majoring in electronics. In 1955, he honorably answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he faithfully served until 1962.

James devoted 24 years as a dedicated employee of the City of Austin and later spent 18 years serving at the University of Texas at Austin. Beyond his career, his passion for music shined brightly. A gifted guitarist, he played for numerous churches and bands throughout the years, blessing many with his talent and devotion.

James found love and companionship with Evelyn F. (King) Organ, with whom he joined in holy matrimony and built a beautiful life together. His faith remained steadfast, and he was an esteemed Deacon at Rock Quarry Missionary Baptist Church.

When he wasn’t making music or serving his community, James found joy in fishing, playing dominos, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. His presence radiated warmth, and his laughter
was a melody that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Debra Organ Brown; his siblings Margaret Organ, Eloise Organ Shiggs, Beulah Organ Limuel, Ernest Osby Organ, Larry Curtis Organ, Donald Ray Organ, Henry Homer Organ Jr., and Thomas Cornelius Organ Sr.
