Daniel Briton Varick, affectionately known as "Dan", 86, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, on July 17, 1939, Daniel lived a rich and purposeful life centered on family, education, and selfless service to others.
He graduated from Keene College and later earned his master's degree from Texas A&M University. As a lifelong advocate for learning and a dedicated educator, Daniel was a proud member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA). Even in retirement, he remained deeply engaged in his community, forming cherished friendships as a beloved member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls, Texas, where he continued to nurture his passion for education and mentorship.
In August 1965, Daniel married the love of his life, Mary P. Varick. Together, they created a home filled with unwavering love, devotion, and shared adventures. He was a devoted father to his two sons, John Varick and Daniel Briton Varick Jr., and a doting grandfather to his granddaughters, Tinsley and Ella Varick. His family was the heart of his world, and he found immense joy in watching them grow and thrive, including celebrating the life Daniel Jr. built with his wife, Kasha. Daniel's legacy of warmth and guidance endures through them.
Known for his kindness, unwavering dedication, and gentle spirit, Daniel touched countless lives with his quiet wisdom and generosity. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his sons, John and Daniel Jr.; daughter-in-law Kasha; and his adored granddaughters, Tinsley and Ella.
