LIFE REFLECTIONS
On May 3, 2026 Cornell Johns transitioned peacefully on his journey to be with God, with his family surrounding him.
Cornell was born January 6, 1961 in Austin, Texas at Brackenridge Hospital to Floyd Johns and Helen Brown Griffin. At an early age he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ, while living in Midland, Texas.
He later earned his GED (General Education Development) and went on to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his four-year term, he completed a tour in Seoul, South Korea, including service near the De-Militarized Zone.
Upon his return home, Cornell worked as a Dental Assistant with the City of Austin. Later in life, he continued working ad s Security Guard.
To cherish his memory, Cornell leaves: his loving mother, Helen Griffin; children: Terrance Johns, Lenise Mayberry, Latrice Burleson, Angela Davis, Cornell Johns, Jr., and Olivia Johns; eight beloved grandchildren; sister: Lisa Johns-Frazier; brothers: Floyd Johns, Jr. (Fat Head), Elroy Griffin, Jr., Eddie Griffin, and James Griffin; a host of aunts, uncles, and extended family members and friends.
Ms. Helen extends a special thanks to her brother-in-law, Woodrow Garner, for his care and support.
