Betty Zapata Obituary

In Loving Memory of
A Woman of Faith • A Loving Mother • A Cherished Grandmother

Betty Roland Zapata, age 75, of Austin, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2026. She was born on September 28, 1950, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love.

Betty was raised in East Austin, Texas, where she attended Allan Elementary School and Johnston High School. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gracielo Roman Rolon of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, and Estella Cardenas Rolon of Manor, Texas; her brothers - Joe Roland, Jesse Roland, Rudy Roland, Richard Roland, Jimmy Roland, and John Paul Roland; and her cherished daughter, Lisa Marie Zapata.

Betty was a proud advocate of her Hispanic culture and a longtime member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She loved dancing, making homemade tortillas, and gathering with family. She was a believer, a giver, full of love, funny, and beautifully feisty. She fought hard until the very end, trusting that only God knew when it was her time.

Betty is survived by her only living brother, Billy Roland.

She leaves behind her loving children: Raymond J. Zapata, Michael A. Zapata (Alisha), and Rosita E. Hernandez; grandchildren - Michael R. Zapata, Marc A. Zapata (Olivia), Lisa A. Zapata (Diego), Veronica C. Zapata (Sam), Isaiah J. Robledo, and Mariah A. Robledo (Lathaniel); and great-grandchildren - Esmeralda I. Garcia Zapata, Diego R. Garcia Jr., Emory J. Thomas, and Elyjah Z. Thomas.
