Abner O'neal Hornsby, Jr. also known as "Juneboy," was born February 22, 1942 to Almetris Black and Adner O'neal Hornsby, Sr. in Austin, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and believed in God.
He received his education through the Austin Public School system, graduating from LC Anderson High School. Abner had many talents and worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Broyhill Furniture Corporation, welding and fixing their machinery for many years. He also worked as a body removal technician at Phillips-Upshaw & Richard Funeral Home, transporting the deceased from the death scene to the funeral home or mortuary. He was a faithful employee at Goodwill Industries, where he worked for 27years as a Donations Assistant, before retiring in 2014.
Abner was united in marriage to Alice Faye Hornsby on January 1, 1964 and to this union five children were born: Connie, Abner III, Lonnie, Corie, and Ivory.
Abner had many hobbies, among them were playing dominoes, playing pool, and the "love of smoking" his cigars. After his retirement, he spent much of his time with his grandkids, and loved having family functions and entertaining everyone. No matter what, he was eager to assist however he could. He thought he was comedian, as he enjoyed entertaining everyone and making them laugh; he though he was a chef and enjoyed trying new recipes and critiquing everyone's food. He would always have a suggestion on how to make someone's BBQ taste better. A man of many talents, he would let you know "he could fix everything" and was a "jack of all trades."
Abner is preceded in death by: Alice Faye Hornsby (wife); Almetris Black and Abner O'neal Hornsby, Sr. (parents); Connie Hornsby (daughter); James swain, Johnny Hornsby, Howard Hornsby, Aaron Hornsby (brothers); Jewel Scott, Georgia Mae Hornsby Parr (sisters); and, Isaac Bosier (grandson).
Abner, Jr., leaves to cherish his sweet memories: Ivory Hornsby (daughter); Corie Hornsby, Lonnie Hornsby (Shalon), Abner Hornsby III (sons); Niya, Connie, Terrell, Caleb, Collin, Braylen, Jonathan, Corie Jr., Darius, Christopher, Teayana, Sheterra, Shaquashia, Jacquiece (grandchildren); 11 great-grandchildren; Cleo McDonald-Newman (a very special niece); and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
